Why witchcraft soaps?

Part of Queens County, Nova Scotia, was settled by people of German descent beginning in the mid-1700s. These people carried a tradition of witchcraft from their old countries that has endured to the present day. Modern witches would call their tradition ”white magic”, as it was concerned with healing and the protection of people from wicked and corrupt forces.

What are witchcraft soaps?

It’s no surprise to anyone that witches cast spells. In the local tradition, a spell often involved the use of herbs and other plants that had a distinct aroma. Witchcraft soaps are scented with the essential oils derived from the plants used in the casting of a spell.
